"New" in box vintage item. This is a porcelain tea set that includes: tea pot with lid, five tea cups, and a uniquely-shaped bowl. I learned this is a handleless yuzamashi (water cooler) also called a katakuchi.
The set features traditional blue and white style; the illustration of a village in front of mountains is a traditional sansui scene. The tea pot features a ceramic filter, as opposed to metallic.
Most of the porcelain discovered in our houses are not as valuable, but this set was made by 畑萬陶苑 Hataman Toen in Saga Prefecture. It's porcelain art pottery from Japan's Showa-era, and seems to be a collectible item commemorating the opening of a Country Club and Golf Course on October 14, 1960. This might be nice for someone interested in both Japan and golf.
The tea set and box are in really nice shape, considering the age. There is only minor discoloration on the rim of the tea pot, as shown in the photos. Otherwise, the set is pristine.

All items in this shop come directly from our two abandoned houses in Japan. These items were packed in boxes, and stored for a minimum of 40 years (the amount of time the house was abandoned), but many items were stored in the house for additional decades prior to being abandoned.
