"New" in box vintage item. This is a black and gold Piezo electric gas lighter "Windmill". It was made in Italy for Japan in the 1970s. Specifically, it was made for Maruzen Oil Company, which was the employer of the lighter's former owner.
The little white Maruzen logo is on the front of the lighter. The black lacquer and gold are still very shiny. There are some small scratches on the lighter, but they're not actually as pronounced as they look in the detail photos. The red gift box and instruction manual are in really nice shape, considering the age, but the lid of the box has a scuff across the top, as you can see in the photos.
I did not test the lighter to see if it works, because it looks to have never been filled before. It makes a very satisfying click sound, and I can see the spark. But of course it does not light, because there is no fuel. Apparently, these electric gas lighters do not use a flint, wick, or battery, instead they use refillable butane gas and an electric spark ignition.

All items in this shop come directly from our two abandoned houses in Japan. These items were packed in boxes, and stored for a minimum of 40 years (the amount of time the house was abandoned), but many items were stored in the house for additional decades prior to being abandoned.
